Instructor Rachael Smart Returns To STP!

Rachael SmartRachael Smart, dance, The Soo Theatre Project, and Sault Sainte Marie just all go together!

Rachael has been schooled in The Soo, received her higher education at Lake Superior State University, cares for this community by way of her nursing career, receives vocal instruction at The Soo Theatre Project, participates in STP performances, and teaches the Acro and Hula-Hoop Dance classes at STP, too.

Acro and Hula-Hoop Dance classes are a natural fit for Rachael since her background is in gymnastics. She intensely practiced this physical craft at the John Rhodes Community Centre in Sault Sainte Marie, ON. Now, she’s using her training to teach others.

Just what are these classes?

Acro Dance is compared to the world famous Cirque De Soleil performances. These dancers know classical dance moves as well as gymnastic moves. Acro Dance seamlessly combines them together.

Hula-Hoop Dance involves dance steps while keeping a hula-hoop in motion on the hips, legs, arms, chest, or hands.

Basic Acro class for ages 4-6 are on Mondays 4:15-4:45.

Basic Acro & Intro to Hula-Hoop class for ages 7-10 are on Mondays 7:00-7:50.

Then, Recreational Basic Acro & Hula-Hoop class for ages 10-adult are on Wednesdays 7:00-8:15.

All these classes will take place at Northern Life Studios for Healing Arts located on Court Street. Hula-hoops are available for $10. *Hula-hoops must be approved by Rachael.

The Soo Theatre Project is thrilled to have Rachael Smart return to teaching. This is possible because Rachael is taking a temporary break from her nursing career to complete not just one, but two masters degrees: Masters in Health Administration and Masters in Nursing.

As ironic as it sounds, Rachael actually has time now in her busy schedule to teach these two classes. Perhaps it’s a study break for her! Take advantage of the opportunity Rachael is providing her community. Enroll your child in these classes, and your child will not be able to wait till the next class rolls around. (Pun intended!)
