With the enthusiastic smash hit “Camelot” at Soo Theatre Project this past weekend and also today, Sunday, July 12 at 3pm for one last performance, STARS, the teaching part of STP, and Orion Couling of EDGE Productions from Chicago are thrilled to offer stage combat sword fighting workshops for the inner warrior of all ages!
Stage combat is the technique used on stage, in films, and in the most popular video games. Learn from a national recognized teacher, Orion Couling, right in the heart of historical downtown Sault Sainte Marie, MI.
Get medieval at The Soo Theatre Project with its summer STARS “Camelot” workshops! All workshops are $25, offered Monday, July 13, and have a minimum of 10 participants/maximum of 20 participants.
An Intro to Dragon Fighting! 3:00pm – 4:30pm (Ages 7-10) Join Orion as you learn a dragon’s weak spots. Then, join our battle master as we dodge theatrical fire and bring the beast down using teamwork!
The Hero’s Call! 5:00pm – 6:30pm (Ages 10-15) It’s time for you to pick up the sword and take the training. Learn the moves passed from knight to squire for generations. Answer the call and start your quest to master the most symbolic of swords…the medieval broadsword!
Two-Part Knight Workshop! 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm (Ages 15-and Up) This thrilling two-part workshop will take a look at the arsenal of the knight in historical context and on stage. Then, pick up your training sword and learn the classic form with your brothers and sisters in arms. Perfect for the history enthusiast, the avid gamer, or actor!
Register yourself and your children for the stage combat camps today by calling 906-632-1930 because these workshops will fill quickly!
If you haven’t already enjoyed watching “Camelot” on stage, you have one more opportunity today at 3pm on the historic stage at The Soo Theatre Project downtown on Ashmun Street. Brian Miller, the incredibly talented actor with the booming voice who played Tevye in “Fiddler on the Roof,” is playing King Arthur! The popular Lola Kennedy, who plays Guinevere, has a tremendous voice not to be missed!
