Randy Krause has a permanent smile on her face, loves teaching, and creates beautiful works of art using watercolor, oil, acrylic, and pastel mediums for others to enjoy. Her work can be seen in many local stores and restaurants.
Randy explains, “My introduction to watercolors came at an evening enrichment course with Helga Flower at Sault High School. I loved it, and from that point on I took every painting class I could find.”
She continues, “I began teaching watercolor and oil painting 30 years ago, and I found that I loved helping people discover their talents. More recently, I was invited to teach a group of children at the Soo Theatre Project through the STARS program. What joy!”
And, with this grand enthusiasm, Randy conducted the pre-school music, art and play camp this summer. There were twelve precocious toddlers from 2 1/2 to just under 5 years old. Randy used her wealth of knowledge and patience in working with these youngsters as the children did a wide range of activities, which included watercolor painting, chalk art, and story telling.
In addition, the camp included music with Karen Beacom, dance with Gabbie Pepin and Hollyann Beck, and face painting with Grace and Hannah May as well as Ellie and Emma Bell. (A huge thank you to Dulcey Garber for the use of her face painting supplies!)
Colleen Arbic, President of the STP Board, shares, “The big advantage of learning at STARS is that all of the arts are involved. The campers enjoyed having a musician visit the camp to teach songs and dancers to teach basic dance steps.”
Randy Krause further explains, “Providing the whole theater experience is unique with STP and something we can easily do.”
This fall, Randy will be offering art classes on Saturdays at STP from September 13 to October 18. Times: 1- 2 pm for children gr 1- 3, and 2:30 to 3:30 pm for children gr 4 – 7. These classes are $80 each and include art supplies.
“My classes are low key, offering opportunities to learn techniques and practices that provide skills helpful to developing a lifelong source of enjoyment,” writes Randy. “I consider myself an artist, a teacher, and an advocate for everyone who would like to explore their abilities.”
