Chamber Music Camp and More!

CHAMBER MUSIC CAMP
Chamber Music Camp still has spots available!  Sign up for woodwinds, brass, or strings.

Alan Jacobus, newly retired band teacher from Cedarville will be coaching the woodwinds and Brian Carter from Alpena will be coaching the brass.  Brian Carter is a regular in the Soo Theatre’s pit orchestra and Alan Jacobus is currently directing the pit orchestra for this weekend’s production of My Fair Lady.  Strings will be coached by Dottie Case and Maggie Twining, instructors at the Soo Theatre.  All of these instructors come with a wealth of knowledge and experience to make your participants’ chamber music camp a really valuable and inspiring experience!  This camp is open to both youth and adults. We do ask that you sign up early, as this helps us to choose music for ensembles!

The Emperor’s New Clothes
The Emperor’s New Clothes is one of Hans Christian Andersen’s beloved tales about a vain emperor who is conned into wearing new “clothes” said to be invisible to anyone who is unworthy of their position or simply not smart enough to see them. Of course, the emperor has been fooled into wearing nothing, but everyone pretends otherwise to avoid looking like a fool as well, even though the king himself can’t see them!

Lisa Justin, newly retired from Sault Schools, and Gabbie Pepin, a Soo Theatre alum, return to co-direct The Emperor’s New Clothes, July 15-19 with two performances on the 19th at 2 and 7 PM!  This musical theatre camp is for elementary students to take the lead!  Camp runs from July 15-19, 10am-3pm, and there are still spaces available.  Stop in the office Monday morning (or email sootheatre@gmail.com) to sign up!

ART Camp
Art instructor, Heather Laurence brings a wealth of experience and creativity to our new art camp!  Heather taught some after school classes this past school year with our elementary students and we are excited to be expanding our offerings here with a Middle and High School camp as well as an elementary camp.  Middle and High School art camp will meet Monday through Friday, July 22-26, from 10am-12pm. Elementary art camp will meet the same week, from 1:30-3:30pm. Come play with different art mediums and explore new techniques while making keepsakes and creating with friends!
