351st Musical Celebration

Soo Theatre welcomes family, friends, and the community to join in our second annual 351st Musical Celebration on Thursday, June 27 at 7pm, performed on the historic Soo Theatre stage!

Last year, we celebrated the heritage of our beloved city, Sault Sainte Marie, turing 350!  Help us continue the celebration of the history of our city with the music and poetry of Susan Askwith, Dave Stanaway, Karen Hughes Beacom, and Lola Kennedy.  Susan Askwith and Dave Stanaway were the winning entry in the Song Contest from last year’s 350th Celebration! They will perform their song about Sault Sainte Marie from last year as well as others.

This celebration will be followed with performances by the musical theater ensemble from our 2019 summer theater intensive workshop directed by Dr. Christopher Hollingsworth and Karen Hughes Beacom.  Hollingsworth is no stranger to our stage; he comes to us from Texas and often sings in the Soo Opera. This summer, he will play Freddy Eynsford-Hill in My Fair Lady, playing July 11-14. Hollingsworth, joined by our very own Karen Beacom, will spend the week of June 24-28 coaching and leading a musical theatre workshop for youth and adults.  Hollingsworth is a CCM Specialiast and will work with students on professional techniques for the singing actor.

General Admission is $15, Students are $10, and STARS Students are $5.
